What We Do

Friends of Main Street has been a cheerleader for more than two decades, encouraging more people to come downtown, residents and visitors alike, through its informative weekly updates, diverse community events, and beautification initiatives.

Friends of Main Street  sponsors and organizes the following activities:

• THE WEEKLY | Weekly Community Events​​ Subscribe to this e-newsletter - don't miss a local event!

           – Wednesdays @ 6:30 am

• Bubble & Truffles Wine, Beer Tasting, & Chocolate Extravaganza! | Friends of Main Street's Annual Fundraising Event ​

           – First Friday in February (snow date the next day)

• Earth Day Cleanup | Our Power, Our Planet

            – Saturday after Earth Day in April (fourth Saturday)

• Flowers on Main Street​​

           – First week of June, before the Laurel Festival weekend

• Summer Concerts in the Park  

            – Thursdays; July through August​

• Fall Foliage Festival & Car Show | Main Street Community Event

            – Last Saturday in September (weather permitting)

• Fall River Cleanup | Protecting clean water, Restoring healthy rivers. Partner with Conservation Commission

​           – First Saturday in October (rain date Sunday)

• Trick or Treat on Main Street  

            – Weekend before Halloween Painting Contest​

• Halloween Window-Painting Contest | Grades K-6 

            – Last Saturday in October

• A Winsted-Winchester Christmas | All Community Christmas Events 

           – First Saturday in December
